Services

Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridge Chimney Sweep

Chimney Sweeping - £70
Chimneys need to allow the free passage of dangerous combustion gases. Regular sweeping will remove soot, bird nests, cobwebs and other blockages. It also removes creosote, which will help to prevent dangerous chimney fires. Chimney sweeping will also increase the efficiency of some appliances. The sweep will be carried out using either the traditional rods and brushes or rotary swept using Rodstation power sweeping equipment.

Chimney Sweeping (Inglenooks and Solid fuel Cookers) - £120
Due to the size of an Inglenook and the extra care that is required, normally swept using traditional rods and brushes, these old chimneys take that bit longer to sweep to avoid damage.
Cookers like the solid fuel AGA or ESSE Ironheart have a lot of part to remove and quite a few chambers to clean. These can take time to clean out properly to make sure they are running at their most efficient.

Town & Country Sweeps, Servicing & Maintenance

Servicing & Maintenance - normally included in chimney sweeping

Servicing your heating appliance is critically important if you want to keep it operating efficiently and safely. We are HETAS approved service technicians and will be able to give your wood/multi-fuel stove the attention it needs. We recommend that you have your appliance serviced at least once a year depending on what you are burning. It is always best to check with the manufacturers instructions and adhere to their suggested timeframes. If any parts require replacing, we will let you know and give you a quote on the parts needed.

Bird Guard Fitting

Bird Guard & Cap Fitting - From £133

Bird guards are designed to prevent birds and other pests from entering your chimney. It achieves this with the use of a wired mesh designed to prevent unwanted entry into your system whilst also allowing safe evacuation of gases and fumes. Many bird guards also include a rain cover, which helps minimise the amount of rain that comes down the chimney. Redundant chimneys can be fitted with a chimney capper. This will prevent rain and birds from entering whilst still maintaining a ventilation to prevent damp in the flue.

Chimney Inspection (Written Report) - £125
This consists of the following and is recommended for all jobs that we have not worked on before:

  • check any paperwork available for the appliance and installation

  • inspect the exterior of the chimney from the ground

  • inspect the appliance and installation for safety and compliance

  • dismantle the appliance

  • clean the chimney

  • examine the debris

  • camera inspection of the internal flue way

  • reassemble the appliance

  • type 2 smoke evacuation test

  • check air ventilation, CO alarm and fuel

  • Written report of all findings

We also recommend this for pre house sale inspections, landlords check for tenanted houses or prior to installation of a new appliance or flue lining.

Town & Country Sweeps, Chimney CCTV Inspections

CCTV Inspections (including Sweep) - £100

If you are unsure on the condition of your chimney then a CCTV camera can be used to inspect the condition of the chimney. It allows us to see parts of the chimney that would otherwise be inaccessible. Not only that, the images can be viewed live in colour, and can be recorded to be looked back on and shared.

Nest Removal

Nest Removal - £140

Warm, compact and sheltered from the elements, chimneys make a great place for birds to build their nest.
Birds nests in chimneys can harbour dust, damp and bird nest mites. They are not safe to be left in your chimney.
A blocked chimney may also result in smoke or Carbon Monoxide coming into your home or even cause a chimney fire. Nesting birds are protected by law and it is an offence to remove an active nest during nesting season (March-September).

Prices are reviewed annually in line with inflation or changes in costs.
